About Us

We are Jeff and Kiera, the face and brains behind The Baker and the Oven.

Jeff is a qualified boilermaker and Kiera is a childcare worker, after being in painting and hospitality. We have 3 beautiful boys. (2 from Kiera's previous relationship, however Jeff took the on as is own from day one as well).

We came up with the idea of the pregnancy boxes for both parents when Kiera was pregnant and receiving pregnancy subscription boxes for herself. One night, Kiera was going through the box telling Jeff what she got while he was in the shower, and as most ideas do come about with males, the idea was born. 

His concept was that, especially in the workplace, you don't really know guys are having a baby until they let you know they need time off cause their partner is about to have their baby. He realized that a lot of the guys he spoke to were really uneducated on anything pregnancy or baby related, himself included, and that he had to go and do the research himself on anything he wanted to know. He wanted to provide information to fathers like him, in a language that men understand. 

He had told Kiera that he was stressing a bit about all of a sudden having an extra human to care for. 

A quote from Jimmy Carr was "women have 9 months to get used to the idea of being a mum, for men, it just seems to happen over night". 

From that moment, Kiera was on her phone, writing down notes as Jeff was saying what we should put in them, brands we wanted to use and looking up products for things that we wanted to try to be able to share with our mums and dads to be.
